Bridging the Gap for Heroes
Through our partnership with Bridging the Gap for Heroes, THRIVE provides food support for veterans in need. Their team places and picks up food orders from THRIVE, delivering them directly to the veterans they serve.

Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia
THRIVE Peninsula partners with the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia to help individuals and families secure free legal documents such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Advanced Medical Directives. Together, we support long‑term financial security and peace of mind for our neighbors.

DeGood Foundation – Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
THRIVE Peninsula partners with the DeGood Foundation to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to families across the Peninsula, offering free monthly books to children ages 0–5. Our Resource Concierge Volunteers help caregivers enroll with ease, sparking a love of reading from the very beginning.

No Shame. Period.
Through our partnership with No Shame. Period., THRIVE expands access to free menstrual products for neighbors across the Peninsula. Menstrual supply caddies in all THRIVE restrooms ensure that any visitor can take what they need to stay healthy.

United Way of the Virginia Peninsula
THRIVE Peninsula is a certified partner agency of United Way of the Virginia Peninsula and receives referrals through the Community Assistance Network (CAN) Helpline. Through this partnership—including our role as a subgrantee for the Virginia Eviction Reduction Program—we work together to help ALICE households avoid eviction, maintain stable housing, and move toward long‑term financial stability.

What’s Next for Success
THRIVE partners with What’s Next for Success by providing financial assistance to clients enrolled in workforce development programs. This ensures trainees can remain in their courses when unexpected expenses arise, keeping them on track toward long‑term stability.

Christopher Newport University
Through our partnership with Christopher Newport University, THRIVE hosts social work interns, Bonner students, and engages with the Center for Community Engagement. This connection helps students participate in meaningful service projects that strengthen our community and deepen their learning.

Peninsula Community Foundation
THRIVE partners with the Peninsula Community Foundation to steward our Community Hardship Fund, which provides annual support to families facing medical crises. Through this collaboration, neighbors experiencing significant health‑related challenges receive timely and compassionate financial assistance.

Virginia Cooperative Extension
Virginia Cooperative Extension empowers THRIVE families through programs like We Cook Wednesdays and Master Financial Educator Training. Their connection to the Master Gardeners keeps the THRIVE Garden thriving, producing fresh, organic produce for The Market at THRIVE.

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia
THRIVE Peninsula partners with Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia to ensure our littlest visitors have access to essential diapers and baby supplies. In return, THRIVE provides referrals to Catholic Charities’ caregiver and child‑focused programs, strengthening support for families across the community.

City of Newport News
THRIVE works closely with the City of Newport News through service on the Hispanic Advisory Council and monthly vital records support for Four Oaks Community Day Center clients. We also collaborate regularly with the Violence Prevention and Human Services departments to connect residents with critical resources.

REACH Reads
The Free Bookstore at THRIVE is hosted in partnership with REACH Reads to encourage literacy and learning among the families we serve. All books—brand‑new titles ranging from early childhood through young adult—are offered completely free to help foster a lifelong love of reading.

Virginia Peninsula Foodbank
THRIVE Peninsula is proud to serve as a Partner Agency of the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, helping deliver healthy, nutritious food to families across the region. Through grocery store partnerships, administration of USDA programs, and allocations of fresh produce and pantry staples, the Foodbank supplies approximately 40% of the food offered at The Market at THRIVE.

Amber Rise
THRIVE Peninsula partners with Amber Rise to provide discreet food support to individuals experiencing domestic violence. This collaboration ensures survivors can access essential nourishment while maintaining privacy and safety.

Operation Blessing
As a member of Operation Blessing’s Hunger Strike Force, THRIVE receives monthly truckloads of rescued food from corporate donors. This partnership helps keep our shelves stocked with high‑quality items and ensures families across the Peninsula have access to the food they need.

The Jewish Peninsula
Each year, THRIVE partners with The Jewish Peninsula to create a dedicated Passover section in The Market at THRIVE. This collaboration ensures families can celebrate the holiday with culturally appropriate foods at no cost.
