THRIVE is powered by a team of 280 weekly volunteers who provide all of our services. In 2024, they clocked 24,000 hours. Volunteers are truly the backbone or our organization. If you're interested in serving the community, please join our team! Volunteering at THRIVE is a great way to meet people, have fun, and help others. Current Volunteer Needs
SPANISH SPEAKING VOLUNTEERS
Needed to assist in the Food Pantry, for Admin Support, and to become Financial Coaches!
FINANCIAL COACHES
Meet with families facing financial distress to build a plan forward. If interested, fill out the volunteer application below. First, applicants will shadow a current financial coaching session, and then take the 20-hour Master Financial Educator Volunteer training through the Virginia Cooperative Extension office, typically held in the spring and fall.
RESOURCE CONCIERGE
Volunteers are stationed in the lobby to help connect families with additional resources offered onsite or through area partners. Training is provided. If you are interested, please contact Barbara, barbara@thrivepeninsula.org
FREEZER VOLUNTEER
Volunteers will sort and shelve frozen items, rotate inventory, and ensure products are easy to find for Market operations. Must be comfortable working in cold temperatures and able to lift up to 25 lbs.
DRIVER SUBSTITUTE
Substitutes are needed to pick up from grocery stores on designated days in the morning. Truck or large SUV recommended. Must be comfortable lifting 25-50 pounds.
